Casalingo

CASALINGO è una collezione di piastrelle 15x15 cm che porta l’immaginario tipico di PiattoUnico anche fuori dalla tavola, per entrare nell’arredo di cucine e locali. 
Insieme ai tre soggetti per le piastrelle, che creano pattern basati sul bianco e nero con accenti in rosa, rosso e verde, abbiamo pensato anche a una declinazione del tema in tovagliette rigide (36x36 cm).

L’ispirazione è nata dagli articoli casalinghi definiti “anonimi” non certo perché banali, ma perché spesso non se ne conoscono la storia e il designer; presenti nelle cucine di tutti, funzionali e duraturi, sono utensili comuni, a cui spesso non dedichiamo la giusta attenzione.  

Abbiamo voluto reinterpretare il fascino dei vecchi negozi di casalinghi, pieni zeppi di oggetti ordinari e magici al tempo stesso, spesso proposti con un ordine che solo il proprietario conosce e dove il visitatore si perde, attratto da tutto quel luccichio e da forme a volte quasi misteriose.

Così caffettiere e schiaccianoci, frullatori e pepini sono stati abbinati agli alimenti più semplici e gustosi della nostra cucina, a piante aromatiche e spontanee commestibili.

Come sempre, per noi il nome della collezione ha un valore importante: abbiamo scelto il termine CASALINGO affascinati anche dall’etimologia del termine:

“Non si tratta di un derivato diretto di casa, ma piuttosto di casale…. La dimensione del casale, rispetto a quella della casa, e la sua posizione, evocano attività che hanno tutta un'altra caratura d'industriosità, uno zelo aziendale, un'autonomia padrona. Il lavoro casalingo non ha il respiro striminzito di uno spolverare col piumino, ma di un ordinare una realtà vitale; una torta casalinga non viene semplicemente eseguita in civile abitazione, ma chiama a raccolta le energie di una linea di tradizione al fine di creare qualcosa di autentico, genuino, orchestrando una filiera scelta d'ingredienti, assumendosene la responsabilità… La cura, la tranquillità, la frugalità del casalingo non sono implicate dalla casa; sono implicate dal casale.” (cit. sito Unaparolaalgiorno.it)

Le piastrelle sono realizzate in Italia in gres porcellanato, quindi adatte a ogni utilizzo e resistenti anche all’esterno.

CASALINGO is a collection of 15x15 cm tiles that brings the typical imagery of PiattoUnico out of the table, to enter in Interiors decoration, furnishing cafes and restaurants, but also home kitchens.
We made three designs which create different patterns, with a base of black&white and color accents in pink, green and red. We also thought of matching rigid placemats (36x36 cm).

The inspiration came from the household items defined as "anonymous" because we often don’t know their history and designer.
At least one of them inhabit everyone's kitchens, they are usually functional and durable common tools we take for granted.

Our aim is to reinterpret the charm of the old housewares shops, crammed with ordinary and magical objects at the same time, often set in a way that only the owner knows and where the visitor gets lost, attracted by all that shimmer and mysterious shapes.
Thus coffee makers and nutcrackers, blenders and pepper mills have been combined with the simplest and tastiest food in our kitchen, as well as aromatic and spontaneous edible plants.

As always, we care a lot about finding the right name for the collection: we have chosen the term CASALINGO, fascinated also by the etymology of the term originated from the word “casale”: the farmhouse. Like a homemade cake, the word doesn’t simply mean “performed in civilian habitation”, but calls together the energies of a tradition in order to create something authentic and genuine, orchestrating a carefully chosen chain of ingredients, taking on the responsibility of the making with care.
